New for 2017
Finisher’s technical tee shirts will have both men’s and women’s styling and sizes and this year everyone will get a stunning finisher’s medal.
The course is quite undulating over a testing 10 miles, mainly on the road, but with a short (1½m) off road section. The start and finish are at the Woodbank Stadium and there are two challenging climbs at 5 miles & 8½ miles. The course, although well marshaled, is not traffic free, be aware of traffic hazards along the way. The areas where road hazards are most likely to occur will be coned off allowing ease of passage for runners in single file. This applies twice at early stages of the race and the cones are only evident for a few meters in each case. Do not run outside of the cones into the road.
Set off inline with the Steeplechase barrier, running clockwise for 300m before exiting the track into the park.
1m – Woodbank Park on the straight before exiting the park.
2m – Part way down Ilfracombe Road.
3m – Close to the junction of Marple Road and Hillside Road.
4m – Bongs Road. Close to electricity pole where road runs alongside River Goyt.
5m – Part way up Otterspool Road.
6m – Junction of Beacon Road and Overdale Road.
7m – Clapgate on the narrowest downhill section.
8m – Osborne Street, outside the shops.
9m – New Zealand Road just before junction with Turncroft Lane.
Into the track to the right. Run 300m to the finish in line with the Steeplechase barrier.
