Entrants to this year’s Offerton 5 Multi-Terrain Race should have received an email notifying them that we have taken the decision to cancel this year’s race because of uncertainty over the government’s social distancing and lockdown policies to control the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although it may have been possible to try and reschedule for later in summer, it’s likely that the race calendar will be crowded with other summer races doing the same thing. Entrants have been offered the choice of carrying over their entries to the 2021 Race, which will be on Wed 16 June at 7.15pm or a refund (less a small admin fee). If you entered and did NOT receive notice of the cancellation by email, please get in touch at stockport10@hotmail.co.uk and let us know if you’d like your entry carried forward or a refund.
Every cloud has a silver lining and in our case it is that the local authority is building a new crossing over the Goyt this summer, which may give us the opportunity to tweak the route in 2021 to shift more of the route onto the scenic Goyt River valley paths.
You will need to pick your race number and timing chip up on the night of the race.
Registration Enquiries desk will be open from 5:45pm and 7:00pm. The race starts at 7.15pm.
There will only be on-the-day entries if places are still available. Keep your eye on the website and social media pages. The cost on-the-night will be £8 for UKA club runners & £10 for unattached runners.
In common with the vast majority of races we do not offer refunds or deferrals.
We appreciate that some runners will get injured in the build-up to the race, so we will allow numbers to be transferred up to and including 14th June 2021. Requests received after this date will not be permitted. Anyone who runs under someone else’s number will be disqualified and banned from future events. To transfer please get in touch with us using the contact form.
The route starts and finishes on the track and is approximately 40% on tarmac paths and 60% on trails or grass. So, unless there has been a dry spell for 8-10 days prior to race day, which might make the route suitable for road shoes, you may be more comfortable in trail shoes. Please use your judgement closer to race day when choosing your footwear.
You must be 15yrs old on race day.
Refreshments at the finish
Prizes for top finishers, teams and AG winners
A warm welcome and supportive marshals
Free race photos for you to download
Once the entry limit of 350 has been reached, we will add any further entrants to a waiting list. We will allow any runner who enters the race but is then unable to compete, to swap their number with a person on the waiting list, up to and including 14th June 2021.
Please check out our travel page for detailed information, but because of limited parking adjacent to Woodbank Park, we recommend car sharing wherever possible.
There are prizes for the first 3 M&F finishers, first M&F teams (3 to count) and Age Group prizes from V40-44 to V70+
At the Woodbank Stadium you can use the Changing Rooms, Toilets and Showers
There is no staffed bag drop, however there are 100 lockers in each of the men’s and women’s locker rooms (requires £1 coin, returnable after use.)
There are no on-course water stations, but water will be available at the finish.
A range of refreshments are available for purchase in the clubhouse.
The route is traffic-free, run entirely in both Woodbank and Vernon parks. You will run through a car park and this will be well marshaled. There are numerous marshals on the course, so please listen to their instructions.
As this is not run on any roads, headphones are allowed, but please ensure you listen out for any marshal instructions and be aware of other people running around you.
We encourage spectators and there is plenty of parkland to watch from, with lots of great views across both parks and throughout the Goyt Valley sections. Alternatively bring deck chairs, rugs, cameras & a smile. Why not bring your club tent or gazebo along – there is plenty of room. There will be hot/cold drinks and food available, along with various snacks from the tuck shop.
Our official race photographer will be on hand to take photos of competitors, and these will be available for you to download for free after the race.
